Hosting future in-laws at home is an intimidating relationship milestone for people hoping to impress their partner\u2019s families, but for \u201c90 Day Fiance: The Other Way\u201d star Johny Fernandes<\/strong>, the attempt to woo his fianc\u00e9e\u2019s mom with a tour of his Aruba home fell apart almost as soon as it started.<\/p>\n

Fernandes, 32, works as an entertainer on a pirate ship party boat and first met fianc\u00e9e Chloe Fabiano<\/strong>, 23, while she was on a girls\u2019 trip in his home country.<\/p>\n

After falling in love and dating long distance for nearly a year, Chloe left her lucrative career doing sales for her mother\u2019s logistics and shipping company in Boston to join Fernandes full time.<\/p>\n

On Season 7 of the hit TLC dating show, which is a spinoff of the original \u201c90 Day Fiance\u201d series, Chloe is one of six U.S. citizens moving abroad to marry their foreign love.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m leaving a six-figure job to move to Aruba because I fell in love with a man on a pirate ship,\u201d she says in a trailer for the new season, which premiered in September.<\/p>\n

Now, in an exclusive clip from the upcoming episode titled \u201cNo Mas!,\u201d Chloe\u2019s mother Michelle<\/strong> travels to the island country to see for herself the home her daughter moved to, and Fernandes is feeling the pressure.<\/p>\n

\u201cChloe\u2019s mom is here today and it\u2019s going to be the first time that she\u2019s actually going to see where Chloe lives with me,\u201d says Fernandes.<\/p>\n

As the trio pulls into the driveway of a beige corner house with a clay tile roof, Chloe exclaims, \u201cThis is it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Behind a stucco fence are several wicker plant stands, about a dozen terracotta pots, and a tree stump surrounded by overgrown green weeds. It\u2019s clear Fernandes is anxious about his future mother-in-law\u2019s first impression of the place.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m very, very nervous about it,\u201d says Fernandes. \u201cI don\u2019t know how, what her reaction\u2019s going to be, but, you know, I hope it\u2019s good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michelle pauses to take in the exterior scene before Fernandes leads her past a large column, mismatched patio chairs, and a motorcycle parked in the walkway to get to the front door. <\/p>\n

\u201cAlright guys, Michelle, welcome to my home,\u201d says Fernandes, while defending the outside grounds. \u201cIt\u2019s a decent yard. Not as big as your yard, but, yeah, this is going to be my house. Welcome in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Michele thanks Fernandes as the trio enters a tiled entryway. They walk past a glass table with a vase of white roses on top and a TV mounted to the wall as well as some art, but Michelle\u2019s focus is on the ground, where she stumbles on a single tiled step that takes them down to the kitchen.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is my kitchen area,\u201d says Fernandes, but Michelle\u2019s attention is still on the step.<\/p>\n

\u201cWatch out,\u201d she warns, to which Chloe retorts, \u201cWhy do you keep falling?\u201d<\/p>\n

Michelle recovers quickly to explain she\u2019s \u201cjust not used to all these different levels,\u201d and Fernandes seems to understand.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s different obstacles,\u201d he tells Michelle. \u201cI\u2019m sorry.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chloe agrees with her fianc\u00e9 and the kitchen tour continues.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Stacked against the back wall is a vacuum atop several plastic storage bins. Opposite that wall is a suite of moody blue cabinets\u2014with at least one that\u2019s missing a door\u2014and an array of mismatched appliances: a white chest freezer and two refrigerators, one black, and the other stainless steel. Additional plastic bins are also visible beneath a stainless steel work table.<\/p>\n

Beyond the utilitarian and outdated features, there are some signs that it\u2019s not the most sanitary place to prepare food. There\u2019s a glue trap for insects laid out with bugs attached on top of what appears to be granite countertops, and several visible stains at the base of the walls and doors, and on the white square tile floors.<\/p>\n

The more Michelle sees, the more concerned she becomes.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan I see the famous stove, please?\u201d she asks.<\/p>\n

Fernandes points to the electric cooktop located below an over-the-range microwave oven and teases Chloe that \u201cshe\u2019s afraid of this one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chloe pushes back, telling her mother and future husband that she \u201clearned how to turn it on the other day.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Fernandes insists it\u2019s easy to use, explaining: “It’s just a clicker. You press it in, you turn it on.”<\/p>\n

Michelle takes a turn at the stove herself and discovers the dial goes in a different direction than the one she has at home.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh, it\u2019s backwards,\u201d she says. \u201cOurs goes to the right.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Michelle tried to put on a somewhat brave face in front of Fernandes, behind the scenes she was quick to share her concern while opening up about her opinion of the property in a confessional. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy first impression of Johny\u2019s house is that it needs a lot of work,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

Back in the kitchen, Michelle has more questions. <\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s the oven?\u201d she asks. <\/p>\n

Even though Chloe\u2019s been living in the home, she is also unsure about the in-cabinet appliance, asking Fernandes, \u201cIs that the oven?\u201d<\/p>\n

Fernandes confirms the small appliance is indeed the oven, but when he tries to open its door, a piece of cabinet trim falls to the floor.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou just broke your oven,\u201d Chloe exclaims, as Fernandes counters, \u201cI never touch that cabinet, so.\u201d<\/p>\n

When Michelle inquires if the oven works, Fernades is unsure, admitting: “Um, I think it does?”<\/p>\n

Michelle expands upon her first impression in another confessional, telling producers Fernandes\u2019 house doesn\u2019t seem up to snuff for an engaged couple.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt definitely gives me bachelor pad vibes, for sure,\u201d she says.<\/p>\n

However, Chloe attempts to paint a perfectly domestic picture of the place when she shares with her mom that she \u201cboiled eggs\u201d on the stove just the day before.<\/p>\n

When Michelle questions her daughter about her cooking methods, Chloe clarifies that she boiled the eggs \u201cin the pot.\u201d<\/p>\n

The whole line of questioning has Chloe aghast, and she lets out an \u201cOh my God\u201d as the home tour carries on.<\/p>\n

Even before she lays eyes on the rest of the house, it seems Michelle has seen enough\u2014and she doesn\u2019t see a future for her daughter at her potential son-in-law\u2019s home.<\/p>\n

\u201cWould it be where I want my daughter to live?\u201d she asks rhetorically. \u201cAbsolutely not.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201c90 Day Fiance: The Other Way\u201d airs Mondays at 8 p.m. on TLC.<\/em><\/p>\n
